What's Different About This With Other Jumpstarters?

There are other “jumpstarters” on the market. Actually quite a few. This isn’t something we invented. What you should note is the actual voltages we’ve packed inside of the Crank. These allow for you to use special power cables that come with every Crank to charge a Macbook from our Power Out on the Crank, power PC’s, Power camera support like the One Man Crew (slider in the video), the Canon C100 (none we’ve found has this voltage setting at 9.4v), and cameras like the Sony FS5. On top of all of this it has 2 USB outlets that allow you to charge things like phones, bluetooth headphones, camping lights, smart watches, and speakers, to name a few. Make sure when you compare this to other devices you look at the voltages of the other options and not just the “battery size” and price.

What Is The Warranty?

The Crank Juice Box comes with a 1 year limited warranty on cables, accessories, and the Crank Juice Box device. This does not cover water damage or physical damage to the unit or accessories. This is far longer than most typical batteries on the market. You have a full year to send back any faulty accessories or the Crank itself.

How Long Does The Crank Juice Box Take To Charge?

From a standard US wall outlet, the Crank Juice Box will take approximately 3 hours to charge from absolute 0. We are also working on the ability to use solar to charge the Crank. In addition the Crank Kit comes with Cigarette lighter adapter so you can charge your Crank in the car and on the go.

What's The Importance Of A UL Listed Battery?

Great question and this is where the rest of the battery options get sketchy! The shortest answer is that the UL listed batteries have the best quality and safety available and go through higher testing and requirements from the factory. It is also part of the reason we are able to offer a 1 year warranty. Here is a little more on the topic.

UL Listed Mark. UL Listing means that UL has tested representative samples of a product and determined that it meets UL’s requirements. These requirements are often based on UL’s published and nationally recognized Standards for Safety.

If a product carries one of these marks, it means UL found that representative product samples met UL’s requirements. These marks are seen commonly on appliances and computer equipment, furnaces and heaters, fuses, electrical panel boards, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems, personal flotation devices, bullet resistant glass, and thousands of other products.

UL helps companies demonstrate safety, confirm compliance, enhance sustainability, manage transparency, deliver quality and performance, strengthen security, protect brand reputation, build workplace excellence, and advance societal wellbeing. Some of the services offered by UL include: inspection, advisory services, education and training, testing, auditing and analytics, certification software solutions, and marketing claim verification.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
